THREE-LEGGED STOOL

It has a simple structure, with three straight rods thrust into a flat, round seat. It is thought that this was probably the first chair ever made by mankind. Three-legged chairs have been made all over the world for a long time because they are stable even on uneven ground.

The first stool IFUJI produced was a versatile modern stool inspired by such primitive tools. It was conceived with the goal of being affordable, durable enough for years of use, and fitting seamlessly into modern living spaces, while also possessing a unique aesthetic. It has been a best-seller for nearly 20 years.

The small seat is the minimum size to firmly support the weight of people of all body types. The thin legs also have the necessary strength, and the joints with the seat are reinforced with a component called a backboard to ensure strength and a stylish design.

It doesn't take up much space no matter where you place it, and it's light enough to lift with your fingers when you want to move it. Its beauty is something you'll never tire of, no matter how much you look at it. And yet, IFUJI's three-legged stool is versatile enough to blend seamlessly with the furniture you already use.

The paint is impregnated with water-resistant water glass and finished with vegetable oil.

The materials used are sturdy and heavy oak and plant-dyed maple, available in two colors: black and gray.

(Note) Three-legged stools are only designed for short-term use and are not intended for long-term use. Also, because they are more likely to tip over than four-legged stools, always support your body with both feet. Never cross your legs as this may cause you to fall.

About plant dyeing

Many of IFUJI's products incorporate the plant dyeing technique, which is rare for wooden products.

Sandokuro is a method of dyeing fabric black using a red dye extracted from the trunk of logwood, a legume tree native to Mexico. It quickly became popular using logwood, which was brought to Japan via Europe during the Meiji period. It is called Sandokuro because the dyeing process is repeated multiple times. It will not turn out black in just three steps, so IFUJI dyes and mordantes fabrics more than 10 times. This is extremely time-consuming, and the dyeing results vary depending on the season, so we have been experimenting for many years. It is possible to dye any wood uniformly black, and we use a variety of woods, including cherry and maple, as base materials.

"Maple plant dyeing" is a unique IFUJI technique that uses a special solution to dye the base wood, sugar maple, a greenish-gray color. It took more than 10 years to achieve a consistent color. The degree of dyeing varies slightly depending on the wood, but the silky luster unique to sugar maple and the hard, metallic dye color are unique.

Plant-dyed products are prone to fading due to ultraviolet rays, so in order to maintain the original color, please avoid direct sunlight as much as possible. However, the color changes as it fades, and enjoying each change is one of the charms of the product. Sandoguro products can also be re-dyed.
